Congratulations to our 7th and 8th Grade Jazz Bands who earned Excellent Ratings at the Highland-ASU Jazz Festival. These students did a superb job performing for judges from across the country. There were over 50 bands participating, most at the HS level, and a few college level bands, as well.
After their performance the students had a 30 minute clinic. Each band was able to listen to a few other junior high bands – a rare opportunity!
The bands finished off their experience with an evening concert, listening to the great jazz drummer, Lewis Nash, ASU’s Concert Jazz Band, and an All-Star Band comprised of several of the judges from the daytime festival.
The HAJF is truly a one-of-a-kind experience for these young jazz students. I’m so grateful they had the opportunity to participate in and learn from these judges, clinicians, and top notch performers.
