Director of Bands, Katie Moorhead

I am in my 24th year teaching junior high band with Gilbert Public Schools. A proud product of GPS, I attended Mesquite Junior High School and graduated from Gilbert High School.

I attended ASU, earning my Bachelors of Music Education in 2001. In 2006, I earned my National Board Certification and in 2007 earned my Masters in Music Education from Boston University.

An active performer, I play piccolo with the Tempe Wind Ensemble.

I am a member of the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors (ABODA), the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

I am passionate about teaching young people to embrace who they are and to shine, regardless of what’s going on around them. I believe junior high is the perfect age to shape and influence young people in a positive way…via music!
